One component of the myADS service consists of a daily overview of newly submitted arXiv e-prints (the ADS and arXiv repositories are synchronized each night). You can configure this component in such a way that the overview only shows you the arXiv categories (like astro-ph) of your choice. By specifying keywords, the e-prints in the overview will be sorted accordingly. You can view the results via email notification or using an RSS feed.

If you are using the ADS service regularly, you might find yourself executing the same query on a regular basis, or maybe you want to be kept up-to-date on a certain subject. In that case you will find the weekly myADS very useful. The weekly myADS service is also a great addition to the ADS for other reasons. Maybe you want to glance over the latest "news" from the world of scientific liteterature during your morning coffee? This addition to the ADS service will allow you to create an overview of the most recent, most cited and most popular papers based on three queries, an author query and two additional queries (which can be chosen to be either author or text queries). Besides an overview based on the queries you specified, you will also see an overview of citations to your papers. There is a myADS service for each of the databases in the ADS repository: astronomy, physics and e-prints. In the case of the (arXiv) e-prints database, the myADS service is more than just an overview: it is a virtual journal.

Results sent to you by email will be in HTML format. If you have a MIME capable email system, that also can handle HTML text, you should be able to directly click on links in this results page and go to the corresponding articles. A new results list will be sent out approximately once per week, when the database has been updated. Email notifications will arrive in your inbox with "ADS Administration <>" as sender. If these notifications get caught by your spam filter, you can use this information to whitelist them.

If you notice any problems, or have any suggestions for improvements, please let us know at ads at We welcome all comments on this new ADS service.

Access to myADS

For both the daily and the weekly overview, the entry page can be found here. This link will get you to the login page. The setup process starts with specifying your e-mail address. As a first-time user, you haven't specified a password yet, so you leave the second field empty. If you want to change an existing setup, you need to specify the password that you previously specified.

  • By clicking on the button "Setup myADS Notification", you will be taken to a form where you can start setting up or modify your weekly myADS service
  • By clicking on the button "Setup daily arXiv Preprint Notification", you will be taken to a form where you can setup or modify your daily e-print notification service.
  • With the button "Remove Entry" you can remove a previously defined notification service. This will completely remove the setup from the system. At this time there is no way to temporarily disable an account so it can later be enabled again.
  • If you have forgotten your password, you can retrieve it by clicking on "I forgot my password". Your password will be sent to the email address that was specified in the setup.
