Abstract

Interstellar formic acid, HCOOH, has been detected at 4.9 GHz by its 2(11)-2(12) transition from the direction of the galactic center radio source Sgr B2. The emission line, which has a peak antenna temperature of 0.04 K and a full width to half-power of 24 km per sec, probably results from an inversion of the Ka 1 doublets. The total column density of HCOOH remains uncertain.
