Interplanetary Scintillations of Cosmic Rays
Abstract
Statistically significant broad-band fluctuations or "scintillations" in the high-energy (T 1 GeV) cosmic-ray flux observed by neutron monitors are interpreted. A mechanism by which interplanetary magnetic-field fluctuations induce cosmic-ray scintillations is presented and shown to be in quantitative agreement with observation.
