The peculiar galaxy IC 4553 - VLA-A observations of the OH megamaser

VLA-A results on the OH emission in IC 4553 are presented. The data of two experiments, with low and high spectral resolutions, are discussed and are interpreted in the framework of the IC 4553 galactic structure. Attention is also given to the rotation curve, emission-line profile, and emission properties of the megamaser. The nuclear continuum source and the OH line emision source are found to be perfectly superposed, and the masing region's size is approximated at 450 pc. The OH line velocity structure is found to be most consistent with a rotating molecular disk structure centered on the continuum source. The location of the second emission region, and the rotation detected in the main emission region are covered. In addition to the disk rotation a strong Gaussian component is found in the profiles of the 1667 MHz lines.
