Genetic algorithms are search procedures which imitate the evolutionary processes which occur in biological systems. They are well suited to search spaces of high dimensionality. We present an application of such an algorithm in which we optimise a set of energy dependent image selection criteria for use in TeV gamma-ray astronomy.
