Abstract

Optical counterparts of 860 sources from 3196 fields in the Texas Survey are identified based on radio-optical position coincidence, and the differences between subsets are characterized statistically. The measuring process and associated errors are discussed with attention given to the expected reliability of the identifications. The radio properties of the +36-deg sources, the sample subset, and the identifications are analyzed statistically by means of Chi-square tests. The identification rate is found to be 27 percent with a calculated 90-percent reliability and 70-percent completeness. The identifications are red objects (galaxies) and blue objects (QSOs), and the subset has properties that suggest that density enhancement is related to the development of radio sources. The extensive identifications are compared to some results in the literature showing that many of the blue objects are confirmed galaxies.
