Abstract

The authors tabulate velocities and other parameters of hydrogen recombination lines near 5 GHz (H 109α and H 110α) for 316 H II regions observed with the Parkes 64-m radio telescope; results of a new search for formaldehyde absorption are also listed. Many of these radio H II regions lie beyond the range of optical detection, at distances exceeding several kpc; they thus provide a comprehensive coverage of southern H II regions in the Galaxy over the longitude range 210° to 360° and constitute a vital data base for the study of galactic structure. Electron temperatures, Te, have been estimated from the line and continuum radio data on the LTE approximation. The authors find one optical object previously classified as a planetary nebula to be a distant compact H II region.
