Abstract

The Lick galaxy catalog of Shane and Wirtanen (1967) as originally published lists counts of galaxies in 1 by 1 deg of arc blocks, but the actual counts were made in 10 by 10 arcmin cells. This paper describes a reduction of the raw counts to obtain a catalog with the original 10 by 10 arcmin resolution. The corrections needed to account for the systematic variation in limiting magnitude across the telescope field and the variation in limiting magnitude from plate to plate have been recomputed. A map based on the corrected counts is presented which shows the angular distribution of galaxies brighter than a B magnitude of approximately 19.
