Abstract

The Nearby Supernova Factory has successfully carried out a 4 year program of discovery and spectrophotometric follow-up of nearby Hubble-flow supernovae. The discoveries have been made from an impartial wide-field CCD survey spanning some 25,000 sq. degrees of sky to R 20 at between 30 and 150 epochs. This approach has resulted in over 1000 supernova discoveries, of which some 600 are spectroscopically confirmed and with almost 400 of these being Type Ia. Detailed spectrophotometric time series have been obtained for approximatiely 160 of the Type Ia supernovae for use as cosmological distance indicators and to probe the physics of supernovae. This presentation will highlight on-going studies of spectral luminosity indicators, a new low-redshift Hubble diagram, host galaxy properties, and an informal census of unusual supernovae discovered in the survey.
