Abstract

Multi-wavelength monitoring observations of black hole transients are providing important clues on the physical conditions and the processes during their state transitions, and the formation of compact jets. By spectral and timing analysis with X-rays we may be able to deduce the location of the inner edge of the accretion disk and whether the energy distribution of the electrons is thermal or non-thermal, and link these information to the state transitions and jet formation.

In this presentation, the evolution of X-ray spectral and temporal parameters will be compared to the formation and evolution of the compact jet in the hard state. The physical conditions of the jet formation and whether the jet affects the X-ray spectral and temporal parameters will be discussed using data from ground based observations and various X-ray missions, including recent data from our RXTE program.
