Abstract

On 2008 September 23, 16:59:40 UT SuperAGILE detected and localized a bright X-ray burst, approximately 15 s long. The event is clearly detected only at energies below about 25 keV. The reconstructed position is RA=272.0930 and Dec=-36.9624, with an error radius of 3 arcmin. This position lies only 1.4 arcmin from the millisecond pulsar SAX J1808.4-3658. This source was recently reported by RXTE/PCA (Markwardt and Swank, ATel #1728) to have entered a new period of activity.
