Abstract

We report the initial results of a drift scan survey for pulsars and transient radio signals at 350 MHz using the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT). The survey, which took advantage of the 2007 summer track shutdown of the GBT, covered about 12,000 square degrees of sky in the declination range -21 to 26 degrees. A total of 134 Tb of data was recorded using the Spigot pulsar backend with 50 MHz of bandwidth, 81.92 microsecond sampling, and 2048 frequency channels. We describe the new and known pulsars discovered so far in this survey. Follow-up observations on the new pulsars are currently underway to determine their spin and astrometric properties and, for any binary systems, measure their orbital parameters.
