Abstract

We choose a particular initial mass function for black holes and distributions for the periods and eccentricities of binaries which seems to better represent conditions in dense clusters, then use the results of previous dynamical simulations to generate chains of semi-analytic 3-body interactions in a dense cluster until ejection through superelastic recoil or merger by emission of gravitational wave radiation. We find that high mass, high metallicity clusters are more likely to retain the merger product and to eject binaries that merge on a Hubble time or less and so contribute to the gravitational wave background detectable by LIGO and LISA. In the Milky Way, the globular clusters NGC 6388 and NGC 6441 best correspond to this criteria.
