Abstract

Models which couple viscous evolution and photoevaporation have the potential to explain the observed rapid dispersal of discs around T Tauri stars. However the source of the ionizing radiation required to drive the photoevaporation was poorly constrained. We have investigated a number of potential ionizing sources and found that emission from the chromospheres of these stars appears to be sufficient to drive the photoevaporation.
