Abstract

We present the first self-consistent dynamical model in which the Galactic giant globular cluster omegaCen is formed from an ancient nucleated dwarf galaxy interacting with the first generation of the Galactic thin disk in a retrograde manner with respect to the Galactic rotation. Our numerical simulations demonstrate that during merging the stellar envelope of the nucleated dwarf is nearly completely stripped whereas the nucleus can survive from the stripping. The developed naked nucleus is orbiting the Galaxy and can be identified as the giant globular cluster omegaCen. Based on these results we discuss the stellar
populations of the naked nucleus (i.e. omegaCen).
