Abstract

Smooth hollow glass capillaries can be used to guide neutrons by multiple reflection at grazing angles along the inner walls. It is shown here that a concentric arrangement of bent capillaries makes it possible to focus and increase the flux density of a neutron beam. This phenomenon will have applications in areas such as prompt-gamma activation analysis and neutron depth profiling.
