Abstract

We present two new STSDAS tasks that are useful in detecting and rejecting cosmic rays (CRs) from paired WF/PC images. The first determines the noise properties of the detectors, and the second employs those properties to distinguish CRs from noise in science images. We show this technique to be very successful at excluding even low-level CRs, while preserving the sharp inner cores of stellar PSFs on crowded WF/PC images.
