Abstract

Observations have been conducted of the radio supernova remnant G330.2 + 1.0 with resolution better than 1 arcmin using both the Fleurs synthesis telescope and the Molonglo Observatory synthesis telescope. The overall appearance is suggestive of a shell structure delineated by eight blobs of high brightness approximately equi-spaced round the periphery. A similar number of high-brightness blobs are seen well within the outer boundary. The irregular brightness variations are strikingly different from those seen in other supernova remnants and seem likely to be the result of a thin shell interacting with the interstellar medium; there is an underlying gradient of surface brightness, with the side towards the galactic plane being more intense.
