Abstract

A new map made at 408 MHz with the Molonglo Cross shows a supernova remnant (SNR) shell centered at 1 = 296.05 deg, b = -0.50 deg with a mean angular diameter of 33 arcmin. It is concluded that the X-ray emission from the region is due to a single SNR rather than two overlapping ones. As is common among SNRs, some of the stronger X-ray emission is located at a weak part of the radio shell. The distance to the object is estimated at 7.7 kpc. Other features of the map are briefly discussed.
