Abstract

Radio telescope surveys at 21 cm of 3C58 using the Half-Mile Telescope were combined with a single dish survey to form synthesis maps. Absorption and column density profiles for H I are presented, along with continuum and channel temperatures. The emission temperature for each channel is also provided. The Schmidt rotation model was used to calculate the distance as within 0.2 kpc of 2.6 kpc, almost three times lower than previous estimates. An integrated column density of H I was analyzed between -14.4 km/sec to -36.6 km/sec as being within 0.05 of 1.0 x 10 to the 25th/sq m. Comparison data is given for various parameters of 3C58 and the Crab nebula.
