Abstract

A photograph of the nonthermal radio source G290.1-0.8 has been obtained in the light of forbidden S II (6717+6731 A) at the prime focus of the Anglo-Australian Telescope. The plate shows a circular patch of emission and a number of filaments coincident with the steep edge of the radio shell. The filaments have spectra typical of supernova remnants with low values of the H-alpha/forbidden S II ratio.
