Abstract

SEVERAL workers have identified crystals of calcium oxalate in the kidneys and myocardium in patients dying with renal failure1-6. Macaluso and Berg2 considered that the deposits are caused by local factors in the affected tissues, while others have suggested that they result from the retention of oxalic acid because of oliguria or to an increased endogenous production of oxalic acid or both4-6.
