A note on anomalous sounds from meteor fireballs and aurorae
Abstract
Sounds at ground level associated with aurorae or with meteor fireballs have been reported on numerous occasions. The mechanism by which ground-level sound is produced by high-altitude phenomena remains uncertain. A discussion of one proposed mechanism, a human auditory response to VLF emissions is presented, and it is concluded that this origin is unlikely.
